Puraffinity presents at LONDON TECH WEEK: Tech for Impact showcase by Upstream

We are excited to have our very own rising star and chemical engineer Mimi Moyo represent Puraffinity at the LONDON TECH WEEK: Tech for Impact showcase talks.

In the event we shared the panel with fellow impact focused start-ups developing technologies to make a positive social and environmental impact. Excitingly, we got a chance to talk about diversity and inclusion!

Mimi explained how we tackle hazardous chemicals pollutants in the water, in alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. She updated on our progress towards developing solutions that remove 99.9% of PFAS, alongside our company ethos and how Puraffinity does bottom up design of treatment solutions as opposed to traditional approaches.

The presentation was followed by a Q&A session. There we highlighted how our traction with the airport and defence segment as we are able to target our material designs to operate in smaller footprints.

On the human and professional side, Mimi was asked about the experience on a Diversity and Inclusion oriented environment. In her answer she described how performing in a company with 50/50 female to male ratio, cultural and racial diversity allows you to learn from different experiences and perspectives. To put it in Mimi’s words:

“This has enabled me to refine my skills when people around allowed me to learn from their experience. At some point I started to become more confident in the role that I play”.

She presented at the virtual roundtable which took place on the 10th of September hosted by Upstream. Upstream is a collab platform between Hammersmith & Fulham Borough and Imperial College. It supports technology and creative businesses connecting them in between and the public, this by showcasing success stories and their exciting innovations.
